Thus far in Romans 9 Paul has demonstrated that the reality of Israel’s broad rejection of Jesus does not indicate that God has failed or that His gospel really isn’t good. On the contrary, pressing into this question of Israel’s unbelief has helped us to see God’s trustworthiness in a whole new and powerful way. But there are still questions that remain concerning Israel. Paul begins to answer this question in Romans 9:30-10:4. Please join us today as Pastor Dustin Rogers opens the book of Romans chapter 9 where Paul points us to Christ who is the “end of the Law”!
The message of Easter offers us something much better than a guess or a magic pill and gives us more confidence than a shrug and an “I hope it will work” when it comes to our hope in reaching Heaven. The message of Easter offers us a true miracle that brings confidence, assurance and hope!
There will always be things about God’s divine ways that our finite minds find difficult or even impossible to fully comprehend. It is in these moments that we have a choice. We can bow before our good God and trust Him or we can question Him to the point that we begin to lose perspective. It’s quite amazing, actually, how easy it is for us to begin to question God like He is a peer. Our human pride is always just beneath the surface in us and ready to rise up to foolishly challenge or protest. It’s here that we need a bit of a Job moment…we need the Potter to remind us that we are the clay. It’s a reminder that God gives us in Romans 9:19-33.This text is incredible. God puts us in our place and yet as He does, He continues to answer our questions, establish His trustworthiness, and remind us of the riches of His glory and mercy that He lavishes on His people! Please join Pastor Dustin Rogers as he opens up God’s word in Romans 9:19-33.
In his book called the Magician’s Nephew, C.S. Lewis beautifully imagines the creation of Narnia by the song of the Great Lion, and it is wonderful. But, not everyone in the story sees it as such. Here Lewis notes that “What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing.
As we come again to the often perplexing text of Romans 9, I’m praying that God will help us to have a better “standing” in order to see what God intends for us to see. We all have questions about election, but don’t miss the point… God wanted you first and that he will keep you until the end.
