Our Core Values
We believe God has called us to live in line with Scripture, and His Word has informed our beliefs.
The Bible tells the story of the Good News of Jesus, and keeping the Gospel at the center of our ministry is fundamental to the workings of our church. The redemptive plan of God is the grid through which we see ministry and it shapes how we interact with our community.
– 1 Corinthians 15: 1-3, Galatians 2:20-21, Philippians 3:1-16
When we gather for worship, we do so by singing Gospel-centered songs of praise, caring for one another and submitting to the Word of God. We stand firm on the Truth of the Bible because it’s inspired by God and used to equip us for every good work.
– 2 Timothy 3:16-17
We follow Biblical examples of how to love our brothers and sisters in Christ and serve one another in Christian community. In a culture that moves us into isolation we strive to be intentional about embracing others. We encourage our members to be involved in small groups and other ways to grow in the knowledge of the Scripture.
– Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:2-3, 1 Corinthians 1:10
Jesus calls us to “go and make disciples” where we are. We are committed to the northeast quadrant of Lincoln, Nebraska, and most specifically to the Havelock community and are so desirous to saturate it with the incredible news of Jesus!
– Luke 24:45-49, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:10-15, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
We strive to live in a grace-filled community that loves well and forgives quickly, acknowledging our sin but resting in His grace. We hope to be aware of our daily need of God’s empowering and sustaining grace as we work to extend that grace to each other.
– Ephesians 4:32, John 13:34-35
A plurality of leadership model creates built-in accountability for our pastors and elders who desire to shepherd our church family well.
Dustin moved his family to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2009 after working as a youth pastor in Virginia. He launched Heritage Bible in September 2009 with a core group of people who were determined to plant a Bible-based church in the Northeast area of town. Pastor Dustin is a gifted teacher who loves the Word of God and people. He and his wife, Catherine, have three children: Dawson, Dylan, and Zoe.
Mark, a native Nebraskan and part of Heritage Bible Church for well over a decade, has served as an elder since 2014. In 2016, he left his career in financial services to serve the church full-time as an associate pastor. While he very much enjoys the administrative and financial side of the work, his deepest passion is studying and teaching God’s inerrant Word (Psalm 19:7b). Mark and his wife, Precious, have nine children and seven grandchildren (so far!).
Nick taught Bible and technology classes and coached girls basketball at Lincoln Christian School for 22 years. He enjoys barbering, listening to music, fishing, BBQ, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren, Mattley and Jameis.
